ABOUT DEWDROP HOUNDS

Joyful. Cuddly. Fast. Beautiful. Elegant. Magical.

I met my first silken windhound in the mid- to late 2010's somewhere in the Pacific Northwest, and finally got Sterling from Alison at Tangaloor in 2020. I fell completely in love with the breed and was hooked.

A pandemic later, we've relocated to Petersburg, NY, about an hour from Albany International Airport, two hours from Hartford, CT, and three hours from New York City and Boston. We are a small hobby farm on a few acres in the woods, with the dogs, some chickens, and a room full of herps and orchids.

We are still assessing if we will breed our silken windhounds, with the earliest plans being late 2024 or early 2025. We will be aiming for solid, fun, joyful temperaments, correct structure, and interest in sports. We seek to continue to improve genetic diversity in the breed, and will health test regularly. Puppies will be house-raised with Avidog and the best protocols out there.

In 2023, we got our dogs out in the show rings (all three silkens gained a conformation title!), and health-tested. We also started coursing and racing, and tried scentwork for the first time! We look forward to playing running games in 2024, and maybe dabbling in rally and/or scentwork.

The non-silkens do agility and course and/or race. We are perpetual beginners in dog things. Maybe one day we'll be considered "experienced," but not yet!
